How do you reach towards the light?
Everyone hits bumps in the road.
No matter where you are stuck or overwhelmed, how does remembering that bumps in the road happen and that it is your birthright to reach towards the light support your optimal health?
Sometimes the bumps are little ones and simply require a readjusted grip on the steering wheel.
But sometimes the bumps are big ones and can leave a person feeling thrown from the car, flat in the ditch, dazed and tattered and torn.
It's not a matter of "if" it will happen, it's a matter of "when"... hitting the occasional deep pothole is part and parcel of journeying through a wholehearted life.
When it happens, how do you catch your breath and recover?
It is helpful for me to remember that when prairies burn, resilient seeds use the increased nutrients from the burn to their benefit and then send out tiny green shoots, reaching towards the sunlight. They know what to do to survive. It is their birthright.
And it is ours, too.
When I hit a pothole, I focus on gathering the increased "nutrients" of lessons learned, and then reach towards increased sleep, more community, time on my meditation cushion, and time in nature. That is my sunlight. I can bask in those healing powers until I am ready to stand up, shake myself off, and get back in the car that is my life's journey.
When I remember that bumps in the road happen and that it is my birthright to lean towards the light, it feels super healthy.
Make remembering to reach towards your light, on a regular basis, a healthy habit.
